Questions and Answers about ora Kinderhilfe

1. Who is ora Kinderhilfe?

ora Kinderhilfe is a Christian children's aid organization that has been helping children and families in need since 1981. In all projects, the focus begins with the most vulnerable: children. We want to help them and their families to lead an independent life in dignity. We start by providing the children with the basic necessities of life. The next step involves the child’s family as well as their environment. We also provide disaster relief.

We are convinced that every human being has an inalienable dignity and has been called into life and is loved by God. Accordingly, we strive to deal with people and ensure that they are given a perspective for their lives.

2.  What does ora Kinderhilfe mean?

Originally, ora stood for Orphans, Refugees and Aid and thus for refugee and orphan aid. Today, the term is understood as a proper name. ora also comes from "ora et labora" (pray and work) and thus illustrates our Christian values.

Until the beginning of 2014, our aid organization was called "ora international Deutschland e.V.". We changed the name to "ora Kinderhilfe international e.V." to show even more clearly that we are committed to helping the most vulnerable in this world: Children.

3. What are the tasks of ora Kinderhilfe?

Three focal points characterize the work of ora Kinderhilfe:

  • Sponsorships
  • Development cooperation
  • Disaster relief

Numerous commercial enterprises are also involved and support the work - for example through donations of material items. Like sponsorship contributions and financial donations, these are tax-deductible.
